"Many times I have painted the complicated patterns of New Zealand’s Harakeke leaves. Rich in cultural history, these hardy plants have been used to weave and create garments, bags, fishing nets and gifts. I love to see the repeating patterns and the way they waft in the breeze . The variety of species and shades of green inspire my work. The original painting was exhibited at the Ashburton Society of Arts in 2021 winning the Forest & Bird Award (flora and fauna section).
